Ben Hammontree. 63, a Springfield dentist, died Friday night at St.. John's Hospital, following a brief illness. He was admitted to the hospital yesterday morning.
Dr. Hammontree, who made his home at the Seville Hotel, was a native of Polk County, and had practiced in Bolivar before moving to Springfield. He maintained an office in the Landers Building.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Vernon Sparks, Bloom-ington, Mrs. Ray Pitner, and Miss Linda Hammontree; sister, Mrs. Ralph Gravely; seven grandchildren; and one great granddaughter.
He was a member of the Uni versity Heights Baptist Church.
