ROBERT BRUCE FORBES, age 83, beloved father, stepfather, grandfather, and great-grandfather went to be with Jesus on Thursday, the 10th of December 2009. Bob was born on the 28th of March 1926, in Electra, Texas to the late Eddy Young Forbes and Hester Almeda Clements Forbes. He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Annie Forbes Crow and Verna Forbes Graves; his brother, Edward King Forbes; and his two late wives, Janice Lee Smith and Joy Lee Terry Crowe Forbes. He is survived by daughters: Cindy Biles of Springfield, Oregon; Lisa DeWild and her husband Bill of Houston, Texas; son: Alan Forbes of Las Vegas, Nevada; stepdaughters: Deborah Turner and her husband Tom of Marble Falls, Texas; Anita Swain and her husband Tommy of Sweeny, Texas; stepson: Ronald T. Crowe, Jr. and his wife Brenda of Fulton, Missouri; grandchildren: Jessica Biles, Mark DeWild, Jennifer DeWild; grandchildren: Karen and Lance Matt, Karla Turner, Nathan and Emily Turner, Stephanie and Timothy Atwood, Keenan Swain, Kristin Crowe, Courtney Crowe, Caralee Crowe; and step great-grandchildren: Jordyn Matt, Kobey Matt, Trevor Turner, Bruce Atwood. Bob was a charter member of Westbury Baptist Church of Houston, a naval veteran of WWII and the Korean War. He was a member of the Lake Jackson Masonic Lodge No. 1317 and other affiliated Masonic bodies. His service and devotion to God, country, and fraternity were an example to many. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from two until five o'clock in the afternoon on Sunday, the 13th of December, at Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston. A memorial service is to be conducted at ten o'clock in the morning on Monday, the 14th of December, at Westbury Baptist Church, 10425 Hillcroft Street in Houston, where Dr. Jeff Berger, Pastor, and Rev. Randy Mitchell are to officiate. The interment service is to be conducted at two o'clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, the 15th of December, at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive in Houston. In lieu of usual remembrances, contributions in memory of Mr. Forbes may be directed to the Lotti Moon Christmas Offering, in care of one's local Baptist church, or in care of the International Mission Board, P. O. Box 6767, Richmond, VA, 23230-0767.
