Truman Gaines
Truman Gaines, 54, of 506 Woodlawn Drive, who operated Gaines Auto Sales, died Saturday at Porter Memorial Hospital.
He was born June 30, 1926 in Shelbyville, Mo., a son of Lowell and Ruby (Kuntz) Gaines, and married Jeanne Casbon Dec. 7, 1947 in Valparaiso.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge 137, Orak Temple and Scottish Rite. He served with the Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Cheryl Elliott of Marina del Ray, Calif., and Mrs. Merrilee Green of Kalamazoo, Mich.; six brothers, Darrell and Lonnie of Valparaiso, Marcus of Portage, Everett of Sevierville, Tenn., Leland of Brownstown, and Eldon of Odessa, Fla.
Services 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bartholomew Funeral Home; the Rev. William R. Kaster officiating; burial in Graceland Cemetery; visitation 6 to 9 p.m. today; Masonic prayer service at 8 p.m. today.
