Mrs. Edith Heady George, 87 a native lifelong resident of Erie, died Friday, Feb 24, 1978, in the Labette County Medical Center in Parsons. She was the last of 11 children of Mr and Mrs. Alfred Heady. Her family includes eight living sons and daughters, 40 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, and three step grandsons. Mrs. George was born on April 20, 1890. She and her late husband, Fred F. George, were married on Dec. 24, 1907 and living on the farm two miles northwest of Erie until moving into the city in 1958. George died on Aug. 11, 1976. Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the Erie Christain Church which Mrs. George was a member. The Rev. Fred Jordan officiated. Bearers were Johnnie Phelps, Victor Malson, Joey Pierce, Jim Johnson, Dale George, and Eddie Hazen. Flowers were arranged by Brenda Marsh, Janie Phelps, Kay George, Loretta Morris, Edith Schoenburges and Tina George. Burial was in East Hills Cemetery under the direction of the Pierce Funeral Home. The funeral services were held Monday at 10 A.M., at the Savonburg Bible Church with rev. Richard Varner officiating. Burial was in Mount Moriah cemetery under the direction of Pierce Funeral Home of Erie.
