This is a military memorial honoring Soldiers of Madison who served in War. On one side it says 1775-1783 and lists Capt. Daniel Hand, Capt Timothy Field and Capt Jehiel Meigs and "65 others of their company" all who served in the Revolutionary War.
One side says Gettysburg and another says Antietam, both of the Civil War. On the Antietam side it says "To the Memory of the Soldiers of Madison by Vincent Meigs Wilcox born in Madison October 28, 1828. Col. Wilcox was an officer in the Union Army of the Civil War. He died on May 9, 1896 and is buried in this cemetery next to his wife. The Captain Jehiel Meigs was Vincent's uncle, his mother's brother. and he is buried in Hammonassett Cemetery.
