On Wednesday, July 17th, Mrs. Norman Gillis died after an illness of some ten days. Mrs. Gillis had spent practically all her life in her home community. Before her marriage she was Miss Mollie Carter, daughter of Mr. John Carter. One sister, Mrs. America Frier of near Bickley, and three brothers, Messrs. Joe, George and Joshua Carter survive, all living near Bickley.

Mrs. Gillis is survived by her husband, Mr. Norman Gillis and by four sons and four daughters namely, J. T. of Waycross, Dessie of near Bickley, N. L. Jr., and T. D., of the home community and by Mrs. John Gibson of Waycross, Mrs. Joe McDonald of Waycross, Misses Nina and Hazel Gillis who reside with their father in the home of near Bickley. The funeral was conducted from Roxie Mae Methodist Church South of Nicholls at 11 o'clock Tuesday. Interment followed immediately in the Roxie Mae Cemetery. The service was conducted by Rev. W. H. Powers of Hazelhurst, assisted by Rev. Rohn, pastor of the Roxie Mae church. Mrs. Gillis was much loved by a large circle of relatives and friends. She was for many years a member of the Bickley Methodist church. The floral tribute was very beautiful.
