After moving to Renton, Washington and attending a Nazarene Church, Doris was introduced to Jesus Christ who she accepted as her Savior. Doris became an avid reader of the Bible, memorizing tremendous amounts of Scripture. Besides being an Ambassador for Christ, Doris's only work outside the home was in the kitchen of King's High School so two of her children could attend Christian school.
Doris and Bill moved to Arizona after his retirement. They returned to Washington where they lived in the Anderson House Plaza of Shoreline. Bill preceded Doris in death in 2001. Recently Doris had moved to Edmonds Retirement Inn. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Olive Elfrink. Doris's family members include sons, Bill (Dorothy) of Prescott, AZ, Larry (Virginia) of Mission Viejo, CA and David (Maxine) of Snohomish, WA, and daughter, Charlotte (Jim) Freetly of Lake Forest Park, WA; 14 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
