Georgiana "Sis" French was born Oct. 14, 1920, in Blair to Charles and Cassie (Hastings) Hansen. She grew up in Blair and was a graduate of Blair High School. On Oct. 22, 1939, she married Gifford E. French in Blair. The couple lived on a farm northeast of Arlington, where they farmed. In 1957, they started French's Eggs Inc. with their son, Eugene, on the farm. They later moved the business to Elkhorn before selling it in 1980. Mr. and Mrs. French moved to Arlington in 1993.
Mrs. French was a member of the Arlington Community Church; was a member of extension clubs for many years; and volunteered at Arbor Manor in Fremont, and was a Red Cross volunteer at the Fremont Area Medical Center. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and Melvern Hilgenkamp of Arlington; daughter-in-law, Sharon French of Elkhorn; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gifford, in 1996, her son, Eugene; a brother, Harvey Hansen; and two sisters, Hazel Sorensen and Helen Hilgenkamp.
