Cleo Wallis Anderson, 81, of Oak Ridge, died Tuesday, July 3, 2001, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
Mrs. Anderson was born Dec. 28, 1919, in Williamsburg, Kan., the daughter of Hugh and Grace Wallis. She attended Ottawa University in Kansas and worked for the Farm Security Administration there.
She worked at Calco Chemical in Bound Brook, N.J., before coming to Oak Ridge in 1945 to be with her husband. Mrs. Anderson worked in the Purchasing Department of Union Carbide Nuclear Division during the construction years and then for several years at the Laughing Monkey Craft Shop in Jackson Square.
Prior to her retirement, she worked for accountant Don Carson for 10 years and also for accountant Charles Rymer for 10.
Mrs. Anderson was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. She was an active member of BPOE Ladies of the Elks and served as president in 1982. She was also a member of the Oak Ridge Woman's Club for several years.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Lowell W. Anderson; her daughters, Sharon Frost and her husband, Arthur "Jack" Frost, of Oak Ridge, and Joyce Helton and her husband James, of Smyrna; her grandchildren, Michelle Pangle and her husband John, and John's son Johnathon, all of Clinton, Jennifer Frost of Oak Ridge, and Robert Helton and his wife, Shannon, of Smyrna; her great-grandson Tyler Helton; and her niece Kay Ferrell and her husband, Max, of Overland Park, Kan.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 6, at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Frank VanDevelder officiating.
Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
The family requests any memorials be in the form of donations to the charity of the donor's choice.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight, July 5, at Weatherford Mortuary.
