Mrs. Maria Steele, widow of Solomon Steele, died Sunday morning at 7:30 o'clock at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. John F. DeLong, near Bowers, from complications, aged 81 years, 6 months and 23 days. Mrs. Steele was one of the oldest residents in Maxatawny township, residing there since the death of her husband nine years ago. She was a daughter of the late Benjamin Delong and his wife, Catherine Rohrbach Delong, and was a native of Longswamp township. There she was an active member of the Reformed congregation of Huffs church. There survives one son, David Steele, of Mertztown R.D.; and two daughters, Mrs. John F. DeLong, near Bowers, and Mrs. George Bechtel, Alburtis R.D. Seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive. The funeral will be held from the Delong home on Friday morning at 9:30 o'clock, standard time. Short services will be held at the house and continued services in Huffs church. Rev. J. N. Blatt will officiate. Interment will be made in Huffs church cemetery.
