CONROE — Mildred Francis Rigsby Atkinson, 77, passed away Aug. 8, 2000, in Conroe. Daughter of Prentice and Hettie Cox Rigsby, Mildred was born Oct. 13, 1922, in Browndale, Texas. She was an employee of Moran Gas Company for over 25 years. Mildred had been a resident of Conroe since 1934 and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Groceville.
She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Myron W. Atkinson; daughter, Carolyn Musgrove and her husband, Marvin, of Conroe; son, Bruce Atkinson and his wife Judy of Conroe; and daughter, Mary Beth McCarthy and husband, Michael, of McAllen, Texas; grandchildren, Mike Musgrove, Joe Musgrove, Beverly Musgrove, Emily Atkinson, Daniel Atkinson, Catherine McCarthy, Colin McCarthy, and Conor McCarthy; and great-grandchildren, Demi and Cody Musgrove. She is also survived by sisters Marie Smith of Conroe and Colleen Duke of Snyder, Texas.
Her funeral services were held Friday August 11, 2000, at the Metcalf Funeral Home in Conroe with the Rev. Ron Vickers and the Rev. G.W. Niederhofer officating. Interment followed at Conroe Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers were Mike Musgrove, Joe Musgrove, Marvin Musgrove, Colin McCarthy, Conor McCarthy, and Michael McCarthy.
Honorary pallbearers were David Smith, Mike Smith, Gene Smith, Daniel Atkinson, and Lloyd “Blackie” Meador. Mildred will be remembered for her generosity, her kindness, and love for her family. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
