The son of Griffith & Ann (Jenkins) Abraham, in 1860 he was a puddler living in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, and stood 5' 9" tall with light hair and light eyes.

A Civil War veteran, he enlisted in Chicago August 7, 1862, mustered into federal service there August 27 as a private with Co. C, 89th Illinois Infantry, and honorably discharged with his company June 10, 1865, at Nashville, Tennessee.

He married Jane lnu. but by no later than 1890 was living alone in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, where he died at age 74-9-20 from "apoplexy."

If, as noted here, the tombstone does claim service with the 99th Pennsylvania Infantry, it is incorrect. There is no record of any service with that regiment, and he was not living in Pennsylvania during the Civil War.
