She was born April 25, 1912, in Mayburg to the late Les and Anna Stroup Mohney. She had been a resident of Warren County since 1950, after moving from Detroit, Mich. She was employed at Warren State Hospital. Prior to that, she was an Air Raid Warden and welder and welding instructor on landing barges in Warren, Ohio, during World War II. She was an avid bowler.
Surviving are a daughter, Beverly A. Landers, Sheffield; a son, Robert E. Bunting, Sheffield; a stepson, Rodney P. Vashaw, Foley Ala.; a stepdaughter, Joyce E. Sargent, Lake City; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Page B. Vashaw, whom she married on Feb. 14, 1952, in Sheffield; her stepfather, James Viaropulas; and a brother, Russell H. Mohney.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Borden-Lloyd Funeral Home, Sheffield. A funeral will be held there at 11 a.m. Saturday with Mark Lindberg, pastor, Sheffield Grace Bible Church, officiating. Burial will be in Sheffield Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Sheffield Senior Center or Hospice of Warren County.
