Cephas Brummett, 80, died on Oct. 5, 1988 at Memorial Hospital of Dodge County in Fremont.

Mr. Brummett was a resident of Arlington where he was employed by Marshall Nursery until his retirement in 1973.

Cephas Brummett was born on May 10 1908 in Elton, Louisiana. He moved to Arlington with his family at the age of 10.

Mr. Brummett was a member of the Arlington V.F.W. Post 8332 and American Legion Post 71. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Cephas Brummett was united in marriage to Edna A. Shadbolt on Nov. 12, 1939 at Ponca, Ne.

Mr. Brummett is survived by his wife Edna; a son, Gary of Omaha; a brother, Walter Brummett, of Pilger; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Ellen(Reeves) Brummett.

A military graveside service was conducted by Arlington's V.F.W. Post 8332 and by American Legion Post 71.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Oct. 8, 1988 at the Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home at Arlington with the Rev. Robert Saunders of the Arlington Community Church officiating. The soloist at the funeral was the Rev. Ken McCain and the organist was Ruby House. Pallbearers were Henry Frey, Walter Martens, Virgil Frye, Gene Cihacek, Ron Christensen and Howard Marshall.

Burial was in the Arlington Cemetery and the Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
