Leo T. Arnold, 63, one of the community's most prominent citizens passed away early this morning at Richland Memorial Hospital, following a long period of ill health.
A lifelong resident of the count, Leo was born in Claremont township, the son of Charles Arnold and Isa Gardner Arnold. He married Hazel Chaplin on March 7, 1931.
Mr. Arnold was a popular and well known citizen for many years whil leading a very active life. He was a long time employee of the City of Olney having served as a fireman for many years and as Chief of the Department for one year. He had also served as the Police Chief for the City for a number of years. He was later employed by the Street Department as a motor grader operator. He also operated a motor grader for the County Highway Department for several years. He had served as a Deputy Sheriff under Sheriff Gilbert Van Cleve.
He leaves his wife Hazel, two children and their spouses, Mrs. Rosemary Eichhorst and husband Jewel. Bruce Arnold and wife Marilyn of Belleville, 8 grandchildren and one great grandchild. He also leaves a sister, Mrs. Pearl Tatum and her family of Olney.
He has been preceded in death by his parents, a twin brother, Lewis and a brother-in-law, Ernie Tatum.
Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon in the Memorial Chapel of the Summers-Marshall Funeral Home with Dr. W. A. Robinson and Bro. William Read officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
