William T. Gauer, son of Henry David Gauer and Laura Lizzy (Cooley) Gauer, was born December 20, 1918 in Putnam County, and died Friday, December 29, 1989 in Kirksville Osteopathic Medical Center at the age of 71 years.
On April 25, 1983 he married Bonnie Jewell who survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Norman Sue Gauer, Batesville, Ark.; one son, Michael Gauer, San Francisco, Calif.; three grandchildren, Rebecca Starbuck, Savanna Gauer and Michael Gauer; and one sister, Mildred Richmand, Novinger.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Loretta Hays and Henrietta Foote.
Mr. Gauer was reared in Putnam County where he received his education. He resided in Oakland, Calif., where he was employed as district manager for the A.C.T. Bus Company for 37 years.
During World War II, Mr. Gauer served with the United States Navy.
Funeral services were held January 2, 1990 in Husted-Ingersoll Funeral Home, Unionville. Adrian Lewis conducted the services. Music was provided by Joy Butler, singing, "Rock of Ages" and "Peace In The Valley."
Bearers were members of the V.F.W. Post.
Interment was in Lipp Cemetery southeast of Unionville with military rites at the graveside by Adair V.F.W. Post No. 2508.
