Ruth Afton Curtis Barker passed away in Salt Lake City, Utah, Jan. 28, 2002, just shy of her eighty-eighth
Ruth was born in Salt Lake City, Feb. 3, 1914 to Annie Maria Bates and Clarence Shipp Curtis , the seventh of 13 children. Married Harold Roy Barker in the Salt Lake Temple Oct. 1, 1936. She was proud of her pioneer heritage and was a lifelong and devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, faithfully fulfilling any and all callings. Her life was centered on her family and church.
Survived by her daughters: Sylvia (Craig) Sutton, Salt Lake City; Barbara (LeRoy) Bearnson, Provo, UT; and Lora (Duane) Ford, Bountiful, UT.; 22 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary (Jim) Whitehead, Josephine Salmon, and Rhea (Dean) Robinson; brother, Norman Curtis . Preceded in death by husband Roy and son Richard.
Services will be Friday, February 1, 2002, 12 noon, Crystal Heights Ward, 1970 E. Stratford Ave. (20th E. and 2560 S.) Viewing at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, January 31, 2002, 6-7:30 p.m. and at the ward 10:45-11:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment Salt Lake City Cemetery.
