The members of our Arlington community were greatly shocked Monday, July 1st when the news was received that Ervin Johnson, a former Arlington young man, had passed away at his Omaha home. Mr. Johnson had been in failing health for some time so the immediate family were in a measure prepared. Funeral services were held at the Stark mortuary at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday. The service was conducted by Rev. Joseph Stopford of Gothenburg, an old friend of the family, and a former pastor here. Burial took place on the family lot in the Arlington cemetery by the side of his father. Ervin Johnson was the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. P. H. Johnson, was born near Arlington June 22nd, 1900. He grew to manhood here, graduating from our high school in 1918. He then attended Wesleyan university receiving his degree in 1923. On December 17, 1927 he was united in marriage to Miss Irene Schreve of Glenwood, Iowa; since his marriage he has made his home in Omaha where he held a position in the American Fire Insurance Co. Besides his young wife, he is survived by his mother, Mrs. Anna Johnson, one brother, Elmer of Bedford, Ia., and five sisters, Mrs. Fred Hunt and Misses Hilda, Clara, Esther and Agnes Johnson of Omaha. Ervin was a young man of great promise with a fine Christian character and excellent habits. The entire community join with the bereaved family in mourning his early death.
