Maggie E. Carney, 88, formerly of Rosewood Heights and Bethalto, died at 11:15 a.m. Monday, June 11, 2007, at Lilge Hospice Center in Burleson, Texas.

She was born March 14, 1919, in Saline County, Ill., to Lawrence and Floy (Searles) Fletcher.

She married Earl C. Carney on Oct. 14, 1939, in Morganfield, Ky. He died Jan. 25, 1991.

Survivors include a daughter, Darlene Wrischnik of Arlington; a son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Eva Carney of Bethalto; three grandchildren, Jonna Barr and her husband, Ron, Matthew Carney and his fiancee, Cassie White, and Brett Carney; a great-granddaughter, Andrea Barr; and a brother, James Fletcher of Thompsonville, Ill.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Lucille Balta and Fern Fletcher; and two brothers, Vernal and Earl Fletcher.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until a service at noon Saturday at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights. The Rev. Daniel Decker will officiate.

Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.

Memorials may be given to Zion Lutheran Preschool in Bethalto.
