CHATSWORTH - Maxine Dassow, 84, a resident of Evenglow Lodge, Pontiac, formerly of Chatsworth, passed away at 1:17 a.m. Monday (Nov. 23, 2009) at OSF Saint James-John W. Albrecht Medical Center, Pontiac.

Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Chatsworth United Methodist Church, with the Rev. R. David Reynolds officiating.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at the church, and one hour prior to the service at the church, where memorials may be made to Evenglow Lodge or Chatsworth United Methodist Church.

Interment will be at the Germanville Cemetery, rural Chatsworth. Arrangements are by Martin-Burke Funeral Home, Chatsworth.

Maxine was born Nov. 22, 1925, in Fairbury, a daughter of John and Viola Knoll Wessels. She graduated from Pontiac Township High School, and later married Harold L. Dassow on Jan. 9, 1949, at Rooks Creek Church, rural Pontiac. He survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Duane (Connie) Dassow and Neal (Joy) Dassow, both of Chatsworth; two daughters, Diane (John) Osman, Macon, and Marilyn (Jim Jones) Dassow, Chatsworth; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three nephews; and two nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Otis Wessels.

Mrs. Dassow was a lifelong homemaker.

She was an avid postcard collector, and was actively involved in church craft groups for many years. She loved to crochet and enjoyed her grandchildren and family very much.

She was a member of Chatsworth United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher for more than 25 years, and a member of the Home Extension.

She was a loving mother and wife.

Younger of two children of John F. and Viola Emelia Knoll Wessels, she married Harold L. Dassow 9 Jan 1949 at Rooks Creek church in rural Pontiac. He survives.

Two daughters, two sons, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive.

Her parents and brother Otis Wessels died before her.
