At an early age, Mabel moved with her parents to South Dakota, where they resided for several years. In 1923, they moved to Missouri and bought a farm southwest of Nevada. Mabel attended high school at Nevada and Moundville where she graduated in 1927.
She was united in Marriage to Jack Burris in 1930. To this union was born two daughters, Rosemary Lusk and Donna Coale Thomas. Her husband preceded her in death Mabel was later married to Loyde Snodgrass, who also preceded her in death.
She is survived by her two daughters, Rosemary Lusk and her husband Roland - El Dorado Springs and Donna Thomas and her husband, Herschel - Stockton, three stepdaughters - Nadine Bough, Norma Toliver and Lois Smith - El Dorado Springs; One brother Dean Scales and his wife Rita - Commerce, OK; her eight grandchildren - Randy Lusk and his wife, Cheryl, Ron Lusk, Bert Julian and her husband John, Becky McConnaughey and her husband, Bud, Danny Coale, Don Coale, Devin Coale and David Coale; 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Mabel was preceded in death by her sister, Maxine Rider.
Services began at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, at the Hackleman Chapel with Rev. David Studer officiating. Musical selections were provided by a great-granddaughter. Emily McConnaughey, and a grandson, Danny Coale. Interment was in the El Dorado Springs Cemetery under the direction of the Hackleman and Sons Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Gary Allison, Forest Troyer, Roy Dennis, Joe Barger, Greg Allison and Jared Mays.
