Charles Newton, age 79, well known resident of Decker Township, was pronounced dead on arrival at Richland Memorial Hospital yesterday afternoon.

Mr. Newton was a native of Wayne County and was born the son of Jacob Newton and Mary Mason. He was a retired farmer.

He leaves his wife, Anna Mae and the following children: Donovan Newton of Noble, Paul Newton of Las Vegas, Raymond Newton of Detroit, MI, Mrs. Vivian Abbott of Clay City and Mrs. Ruby Bowman of Leesburg, FL: There are12 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and 2 step grandchildren. He also leaves two brothers, Luther Newton of Noble and John Newton of Champaign, and a half-sister, Mrs. Mollie Brown of Noble.

Funeral services were held Monday in the Memorial Chapel of the Summers-Rainey Funeral Home with Rev. Jess Kindred officiating. Interment will be in Crest Haven Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
