Story related by "Dody" Seyer:
In 1950 my mother, Frances, took my sister Eileen and myself to Europe on a ship as I had been recuperating for sometime from a car accident. We were on our way back to Canada on a ship (possibly the Duchess of Bedford) and were sitting at the 1st officer's table when over the loudspeaker there was an announcement that "the United States has just declared war on Canada." The ship had Canadians, U.S., British citizens, and others onboard and they couldn't believe what they had heard. A bit later, they announced that the United States had declared war on Korea (Korean War) - not Canada.
