Birth: May 16, 1799
Death: Feb. 25, 1883

m. Pricilla Collins in Jessamine Co., KY 7 Mar 1837

Bio Courtesy of Col.B.H.Morris:
(Hedger file C-309) William was a life long resident of Woodford Co.,KY. When he married Pamelia he purchased the farm upon which he raised his family on 14 Nov 1831, from
John Cave. A record of the transaction is found in Deed Bk., M., p. 466.
John Cave had recieved this farm from the estate of William's father in 1831 and it was held for reconveyance to William. When Pamelia died, William remarried to Priscilla Collins and they bought a new home, located behind Hillsborough Baptist Church. The house had formerly been owned by Captain Jack Jouett of Revolutionary fame for his famous ride from Cucko Tavern, VA to warn Gov. Thomas Jefferson at Monticello of the approaching British. William and Priscilla lived out their lives in this house. They are both buried in the Capt. Jack Jouett Cemetery on their home place. William Mason Morris seems to have been his father's favorite. He was named as one of the executors of his father's will, who appointed him guardian of his younger brother,David. As a man, he was said to be of gentle, but aristocratic bearing and a person who was consulted by friends and neighbors in times of need. The photo on C-308 is a copy of a fine portrait which was owned by Mr & Mrs Landis O. Morris, Sr. of Louisville,KY, both now deceased. William's will is recorded in Book Y, p. 298 in Woodford Co.,KY. It lists all his children. He and wife Priscilla, their son Samuel C., and his wife Rebecca & several grandchildren are buried in the family graveyard by the road that runs back of the Hillsborough Church. For many years the graveyard was not maintained & many of the
markers were broken or fell. In more recent years, the house, grounds & graveyard have been given more attention. The graveyard is now well kept & the house has been restored and is open for public visitation.
