Military History - Class of 1854 - Cadet at the Military Academy, September 1, 1850 to July 1, 1854, when he was graduated and promoted in the Army to Second Lieut. of Dragoons, July 1, 1854. Served: on frontier duty at Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas, 1854-55. Resigned - February 1, 1855.
Civil History - Professor of Mathematics, Giles College, Pulaski, Tennessee - 1856-61.
Joined in the Rebellion of 1861-66 against the United States.
Civil History - Professor of Mathematics and Natural Science, Giles College, Pulaski, Tennessee - 1869-79. School teacher, Memphis, Tennessee, 1866-69 and at Nashville, Tennessee, 1879-88.
Note - As with other Confederate officers, Cullum's Register omits his war record. According to William L. Clements Library at the University of Michigan, which has among its holdings a small journal he kept from February to May, 1865 (q.v.), he served in the cavalry of the Army of Tennessee.
Age at Death - 57 Years.
