Jennie Popham was born in Delaware Co., Iowa on Jan. 27, 1855. She was the eldest daughter of Edward and Sarah Popham. Her childhood was spent in Delaware Co., Iowa. She was converted at the ages of 16 years and united with the Methodist Episcopal Church, of which he has since remained the faithful member.
She was married to George Wall on November 21, 1876, and came to Alta, on Dec. 12 of the same year where they began their married life six miles southwest of Alta in Maple Valley Twp. To this union were born six children, Mrs. Ella Thayer, Arthur deceased, Herbert, Mrs. Mabel Hatch, and the two eldest dying in infancy.
Mrs. Wall has been enjoying good health for the past five years. About 11:30 AM last Thursday she was found lying on the ground, having not been missed by her husband who was near at hand but was seen by loving friends only a few minutes previous. They picked her up and carried her into the home and every effort was made to revive her but she never regained consciousness. She passed away about 11:30 PM the same evening, Aug. 6, 1914, at the age of 59 years, seven months, and 10 days. Besides the devoted husband and children who mourn the loss of the loving wife and mother, she is survived by three grandchildren, two brothers, one sister, and a host of friends.
Blessed are the dead who died in the lord. Relations 14 chapter, verse 13th
We desire to express our sincere thanks to the many friends and relatives who were so kind to us during the illness and death of our beloved wife and mother. Also to thank those who contributed such beautiful floral offerings and those who assisted in the favorite songs of our loved ones. George Wall and family.
