Michael 'Mike' Andrew Scibelli was the third child, and second son, born to Michael W. and Rita E. (Quinn) Scibelli of Springfield, Massachusetts. Barbara 'Bonnie' F. (Scibelli) Begley, an x-ray technician, and Andrew 'Andy' Scibelli, who became the President of Springfield Technical Community College (S.T.C.C.) in Springfield, were his sister and brother. His father, Michael W. Scibelli, worked for the Massachusetts Department of Corporations and Taxation in Springfield as an office manager, and was an assistant football coach for Cathedral High School, and his mother, Rita was a homemaker. The family lived in the Forest Park section of Springfield. Mike and his childhood buddy, Frank Adamski, who lived diagonally across the street from Mike, could on warm summer nights with windows open, hear the roar of lions at the former zoo at Forest Park approximately one quarter of a mile way, and would often imagine they were on safari in Africa. Life was good for young boys growing up in Springfield during the 1950's, with many friends living on the same street during the height of baby-boom generation. Playing Wiffle-ball and touch football on that quiet residential street was an almost daily occurrence. Mike attended local schools, graduating from Cathedral High School then became an Environmental Conservation Officer employed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Department of Fisheries and Wildlife, ultimately being promoted to sergeant. Mike was a loyal, true, honest, son, brother and friend who was stricken with lung cancer and taken from us too soon. He suffered his illness with quiet dignity, good humor and grace. His brother, Andy, arranged a personal, one-on-one visit by Bobby Orr, the retired Boston Bruins Defenseman. Bobby not only visited with Mike for a couple of hours but also personalized and autographed a copy of that famous picture of the goal he scored against the ST Louis Blues in the 1970 Stanley Cup playoff. This thrilled Mike to no end since he was Mike's favorite hockey player. The family wishes to thank Bobby for that kind gesture. At the time of his passing, he was living in the two-family home owned by his sister Bonnie and her husband Tom Begley, in West Springfield, Massachusetts. Bonnie, with the able assistance of the Visiting Nurses of Western Massachusetts, took good care of Mike until he returned home to God on a beautiful Spring day, May 6, 1995.
May he rest in eternal peace until we meet again.

Got some pretty cool news, Mike. A relative of mine just had a baby boy today, on your birthday, and named him, Chase Michael, as first and middle names. I will think of you always whenever I see him.|
