Judge William Irvin, who came to Lancaster in 1801. He married Elizabeth Gillespie, one of three Gillespie sisters from Brownsville, Pennsylvania. Sister Susan married Philemon Beecher and Eleanor married Hugh Boyle. Eleanor's granddaughter, Ellen Ewing, married William Tecumseh Sherman. Eleanor & Hugh's son-in-law was Thomas Ewing Sr., U.S. Senator. Their grandsons were Civil War Union Generals Charles, Thomas Jr., and Brig. Gen. Hugh Boyle Ewing.
