The many friends of John Jackson Martin will regret to learn of his death which occurred at 3 o'clock am March 27. Mr. Martin was born March 17, 1867. He was a life-long resident of the Fort Bayou neighborhood in Jackson County.
He leaves to mourn his death two sons, Baily and Corbett Martin, two brothers, James Martin of Fort Bayou and Hirman Martin, of Lumberton; four sisters, Mrs. Thomas Brown and Mrs. Henry Cruthirds of Laurel, Mrs. George W. Noble of Fort Bayou and Mrs. Walker of Gulfport.
His wife who was Miss Caroline Webb, preceded him to the grave thirty-one years ago.
The funeral services and burial were at Antioch church, conducted by Rev. W.D. Holland.
The pallbearers were Lyman Brown Lockard Brown, Rudolph Noble, Fred Walker, Evon Walker, Emmett Walker, all nephews of the deceased.
