Thomas Francis McCue, son of Elizabeth and Frances McCue, was born at Bendena, Kansas, July 22, 1879 and passed away at his home May 15, 1955 at the age of 75 years.
He came to Rooks county with his grandfather in 1893 where he spent the rest of his life with the exception of 3 years spent in California.
On December 23, 1900 he was united in marriage to Mary Anderson. To this union six children were born: Rolla and Earl of Glade, Veda Elliott of Phillipsburg, Mary Strunk of Salinas, California, Albert and Leo of Stockton.
Tom, as known to his friends, was most thoughtful for the needs of others and possessed all the fine qualities which go to make a true friend and good neighbor.
Tom had been active in the business life of the community until a few years ago. He engaged in farming for many years and later was connected with the highway department. For a good many years he had operated the filling station and cabin camp at the top of the hill on the north edge of town having built up an excellent business and recently a trailer parking area had been added.
Previous to this he operated a dray line for many years and for several years pulled the bus from the Hicks House to the depot several times each day. He was a booster for good highways and also interested in the progress of this town...
He had been in failing health for the last ten months... Funeral services were conduced by Rev. Elmer Rinkel in the Smith Memorial Chapel and burial was at the Stockton Cemetery.
