Deborah Tobey Swift was the daughter of Dr. Elisha Tobey and Desire Newcomb.

In 1766 Silas Swift and Deborah Tobey were married and they eventually settled in Cheshire, Mass., where they attended the Second Baptist Church of Cheshire Massachusetts. According to church records Debora died Dec 1802 and just one month after her death Deborah's husband Silas died in Jan 1803 in a grist mill accident.

Their children were:
1. Lemuel, b. 28 Apr 1767, went to Maine
2. Susan, b. 17 Sep 1768, Married ---Duncan.
3. Jireh, b. 1 Oct 1770, went to Maine.
4. Elisha, b. 31 Jul 1772, went to Maine.
5. Desire, b. 15 Sep 1774, d. 9 Oct 1802, Married Hezekia Wilber, 20 Nov 1794
6. Patience, b. 6 Aug 1776, d 19 Aug 1847, married Elisha Clapp, 5 Nov 1797
7. Bathsheba, b. 7 Sep 1778, married Stephen Peckham, 1803. He died 6 May 1853 [lived in Peterboro, NY]
8. Rebecca, b. 6 Jan 1780, married 1st, Lemuel Martin, 2nd Emerson Brown. "He died 13 May 1850" [Emerson died 13 May 1847; Rebecca died 16 May 1850] [Peterboro, NY]
9. Lois, b. 3 Dec 1783, married James Weston, 3 Sep 1805. He died Jan. 9, 1863.
10. Abigail, b. 12 Aug 1785, d. 17 Jan 1858, married Winchester Mathewson, 7 Nov 1804 [lived in Peterboro, NY]
11. Lucinda, b. 22 Aug 1787, d. 1796, age 9 years
12. Ruth, b. 2 Dec 1788, d. 22 Aug 1867 (?), married 1st, Benjamin Freeman, 2nd, Aaron Burr.

Deborah Tobey Swift was a direct descendant of 4 Mayflower passengers: John Howland and his wife, Elizabeth Tilley, Elizabeth's parent's John Tilley and Joan Hurst Tilley who both perished the first winter in the New World.

Deborah is also related indirectly to John Tilley's brother, Edward (Elizabeth Tilly's uncle) & his wife Ann Cooper Tilley both of whom also perished the first winter leaving Elizabeth an orphan at age 14.

Deborah Tobey Swift's husband, Silas, was a direct descendant of 3 of the Mayflower passengers: John Cooke (his father Francis Cooke was also a passenger) and Richard Warren.

John Howland, John Tilley and his brother, Edward Tilley, Francis Cooke, and Richard Warren all signed the Mayflower Compact.

NOTE: This lineage was taken from documents dated 16 Aug 2001 and 30 Nov 2006 from Barbara L. Gill, Archivist from the Town of Sandwich, Massachusetts which contain Mayflower generation charts of Silas Swift and Deborah Tobey. Other reliable sources corroborate this information.

Deborah was also a direct descendant of Reverend Richard Bourne, one of the founders of Sandwich, Massachusetts and the first English missionary to Native Americans (The Mashpee tribe).
