Obituary

Lovelace H. Headington was born in Mt. Vernon, Knox county, O., April 11, 1836.
In 1860 he was married to Catherine C. Williams, of Indiana. They lived in Indiana until 1869, when they moved to Knox county, O. In 1872, moved to their present home in Union county.
In 1880, he united himself with the I.O.O.F’s. at West Mansfield, O. Later became a charter member of Byhalia Lodge and died still a member.
Brother Headington united with the Church of Christ at West Mansfield, O. in 1888, to which church he has ever been a faithful member. He was a member of the church militant for about nine years and we believe today he belongs to the church Triumphant.
Bro. Headington and his youngest daughter, Sadie, have joined their voices in heavenly songs.
Death came to him after some weeks of lingering illness, April 22, 1897, aged 61 years and 11 days.
But thank God he left the assurance that it was well with him.
He leaves a devoted wife, five sons and three daughters, seven grand-children, an aged mother, one brother, two sisters, and a host of friends and neighbors to mourn the loss.
But blessed be God, our loss is his gain. For “blessed are the dead who die in the Lord.”
He realized that his time was nearly spent, and talked to the entire family a few moments before his spirit took its flight. May the bereaved family realize that he is not dead but sleepeth. His last words were, “I am ready.”
“I know in whom I have believed.” These precious words he spake, And then by angel bands received He saw the morning break. O what a trust—yea, more than this, Of heaven it was the sight! It filled his parting hours with bliss, And crowned him with its light.
