Fanny Maxine Franklin of Sanger slipped into the arms of her Savior on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 in Denton, Texas at the age of 89. Born on December 6, 1926 in The Delta, MS, she was the daughter of Leslie Jeffrey and Fannie LaVica (Toney) Forman.
Maxine completed high school in Dallas, Texas and graduated from Bible Training in Dallas. On July 12, 1945, she married George W. Franklin in Dallas, Texas. She was a past trustee on the Board of Trustees for Kemp ISD. She and George owned grocery stores throughout their marriage and she worked alongside of him as a checker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Georgia Lee Stastny, a daughter-in-law Carolyn Louise Doss Franklin, five brothers, four sisters and one brother-in-law.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband George, two sons Strike Franklin and wife Kate and Archie Franklin of Sanger, son-in-law Bob Stastny, special niece Lavica Emerson, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Bubba and Karla Stastny (Presley, KJ, and Karson), Danford and TK Stastny (Jarrett, Jacob, Tate, and Chandler), Jennifer and Brad Watts (K'Leigh and Brance), Stacy and David Turkoly (Morgan, Maci, and Kenzie), Craig and Melissa Stastny (Corbin and Cooper), Michael Franklin, Camille Franklin (Camryn, Carly, and Bryson), Carrie and Matt Jones (Britton, Barrett, Baylor, Cole, Reagan, and Jett), Mason Franklin, Michelle and Joe Walker (Ryder and Racer) and Madison Franklin and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 20, prior to the funeral service, from 11 am to 12 noon at the First Baptist Church of Slidell. Funeral services for Maxine will immediately follow the visitation. Reverend Dickie Amyx will officiate the service assisted by Strike Franklin, Eric Fletcher, and Maxine's grand-daughters.
