George F. Jones, 84, of 53 Blossom St., a machinist, died yesterday in Leominster Hospital.
His wife, Alice M. (Arsenault) Jones, died in 1977. He leaves two daughters, Carol J. Carlisle of Concord, N.H., and Linda Fairbanks of Denver; a sister, Adelaide S. Holden of Leominster; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces; and a close companion, Irene Connors of Leominster. Born in Malden, son of George A. and Clara (Sanders) Jones, he lived most of his life in Leominster. He graduated from Leominster High School in 1931.
Mr. Jones was a master machinist 33 years at Simonds Saw & Steel Co., Fitchburg, retiring in 1974.
He was a member of Wilder Lodge of Masons; the Scottish Rite Bodies 32nd Degree and Aleppo Temple Shrine, both in Wilmington; the Temple Chapter Order of the Eastern Star; and the Leominster Sportsmen Association.
The funeral service will be held at noon Saturday at Silas F. Richardson and Son Funeral Home, 106 West St. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery . Calling is 11 to noon Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Burns Institute, 51 Blossom St., Boston 02114.
