OBITUARY - Plain Dealer, Wabash (IN)
The death of Mrs. Margaret M. Mattern, well-known elderly Wabash resident, of 371 West Main Street, occurred at the Wabash County Hospital Tuesday shortly before midnight, at 11:40 p.m. following a long illness. She was admitted to the hospital Feb. 24 and since then had been failing rapidly.
Mrs. Mattern, who owned and managed the Mattern apartments on West Main Street, was at one time employed in the Knightstown Orphans Home in Marion. For a number of years, she was in the Mattern Department store and had worked in a number of other stores, including the former Resneck Style Center and the former D.C. Lavengood store here.
Mrs. Mattern was preceded in death by her first husband, Frank Millspaugh, 24 years ago, and by her only son, Merritt Millspaugh, who drowned in Lukens Lake about five years ago.
Surviving are a granddaughter, Patsy Millspaugh of Chicago, and her husband. V.A. Mattern, former merchant, from whom she was divorced.
The body was taken to the Jones Funeral Home where it will remain for services Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. R.C. Plank of the First Methodist Church. #Interment will be in Falls Cemetery.
