Grace Winkelman
Funeral services for Grace S. Winkelman, 92, of Long Prairie, were held on Tuesday, January 2, 2007 at First Baptist Church in Long Prairie with Reverend Paul Twist will officiating. Grace passed away on Friday, December 29, 2006 at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Sauk Rapids.
Grace was born on January 31, 1914 in rural Clarissa. She was the daughter of Alvina (Fehmer) and Henry W. Reineke.
She grew up in the Freeman Creek community and attended Dist. 108 grade school. She completed the tenth grade at Clarissa High School and then continued to help her elderly parents on the farm. She and her brothers loved music and played the mandolin, piano and enjoyed singing together.
She was married to Reuben Winkelman on August 30, 1934 at the Eagle Bend parsonage. They established their married life on a farm in Iona Township. They attended the Freeman Creek Methodist Church and Clarissa Methodist Church. A stillborn son was born December 5, 1935. They next welcomed 2 daughters, one son and 2 more daughters.
She enjoyed gardening, baking and entertaining friends and relatives, her grandchildren and church activities and traveling. After they retired from farming, they moved to Long Prairie.
After her husband passed away, she moved into the Prairie View 400. She then joined Long Prairie First Baptist Church in 1985 and enjoyed the fellowship and Bible studies there. She was a dear Christian wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She moved to St. Cloud in 2002 and the Good Shepherd Nursing Home in 2003.
Grace was preceded in death by her parents; brothers and sisters; husband; and daughter, Betty in 1978.
She is survived by her children, 9 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
Interment was held in Freeman Creek Cemetery in rural Clarissa.
