James Washington Broom is the son of John Louis Broom (1838-1914) and Mary Ann (unknown)(1842-1924). He married Mary Jessie Currence (1877-1955) on June 21, 1896 in Whitfield County, Georgia. Together they have four children:
1. Carl Albert Broom (1898-1960)
2. Bessie Irene Broom (1900-1977) m. Tim Weston Haulbrook, Sr.
3. Edgar McDonald Broom (1910-1978)
4. Clara Marguerite Broom (1914-1993) m. Joseph Eugene King, Sr.

James W. Broom
Funeral services for James W. Broom of 796 Wilson Rd., NW, will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Spring Hill. The Rev. William L. Selman will officiate, with burial at Crest Lawn Memorial Park.
Mr. Broom died Tuesday at his home.
He was a retired employee of the Southern Railway System. He also had been employed at one time with the Nashville, Chattanooga and St. Louis Railway.
A native of Walker County, Mr. Broom lived in Atlanta since 1916. He was a member of the Northside Drive Baptist Church.
Surviving are daughters, Mrs. T. W. Haulbrook and Mrs. J. E. King, both of Atlanta; sons, C. A. Broom of Daytona Beach, Fla., and E. M. Broom of Atlanta; brothers, T. J. Broom of Tunnel Hill, and Dodd Broom of Chattanooga.
