Philip was the fifth of ten known children of Johann Georg (George) Rothrock (1721-1806) and Elizabeth Roemig (1721-1798).

Philip married Martha (Molly) Lobough (1777-1858) in c1797 at presumably Mifflin County, Pennsylvania. Philip and Molly were the parents of nine known children, namely:

1. Elizabeth Rothrock (1798-1799)
2. Joseph Rothrock (1800-1876)
3. Jonathan Rothrock (1802-1852)
4. Mary Rothrock (1804-1804)
5. Abraham Rothrock (1806-1894)
6. David Rothrock (1808-1854)
7. Philip Rothrock (1811-1847)
8. George Rothrock (1814-1833)
9. William Rothrock (1817-1903)
