Mrs. Jane France Died Wednesday - Resident of Winterset for Last Forty Years Succumbs
Mrs. Jane France, a resident of Winterset for about 40 years, died at her home here early Wednesday. She was 78 years of age.
Mrs. France was the former Eliza Jane Stephenson, daughter of Frederick and Sophia Stephenson, and was born at Keokuk on March 29, 1858.
As a young woman she was married to Gardner France. He died several years ago.
Before coming to Winterset, Mrs. France, made her home several years in Des Moines.
She had united with the Methodist church at the age of 8 years and remained a life-long faithful member.
She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Fannie Stewart of Winterset and Mrs. Louisa Priest of Saskatchewan, Canada; a brother James Stephenson of Cooper, in addition to several nieces and nephews in this community.
Funeral services were held Thursday from the Tidrick funeral home in charge of the Rev. M. R. Talley, pastor of the Methodist church. Burial was make in the Primitive Baptist cemetery.
