Merlin Gomez of Fresno passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2009. He was born on January 2, 1928, and is preceded in death by his parents Eduarda and Benjamin Gomez; and his brothers, Louie and Frank Gomez.
Merlin served in the Armed Forces and was a paratrooper in the U.S. army. After the service he worked at Schenley winery until retirement.
He is survived by his wife Maria Miranda; and stepdaughter, Lucero Gutierrez and her husband Jorge Delgado; and stepson, Hugo Gutierrez. He had nine stepgrandsons, and one stepgranddaughter. Merlin is also survived by brothers, Bob Gomez of Los Angeles, Benjamin Gomez of Florida, Joe Gomez, Eddie Gomez and Charles Gomez all of Fresno sisters, Vera Olson of Wisconsin and Dolores Rodriguez of Fresno; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. with a Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m., Monday at La Paz Funeral Home.
A Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, with internment at St. Peters Catholic cemetery.
