Mrs. Martin (Lydia Margaretha) Antholz, daughter of Carsten and Anna (Rcoemann) Eggers, was born March 13, 1889, at Byron, NE. She was one of five children.
Mrs. Antholz had been failing in health the last seven years of her life. She died Sunday, Jan. 2, 1966, at the age of 76 years. nine months and 19 days.
At the age of six, she with her parents, traveled by covered wagon to the Long Branch neighborhood south of Johnson. She spent the rest of her life in that general area. She received her schooling in the Rock and Maple Grove rural schools.
On April 18, 1889, she was baptized by Rev. Carl Wohlfarth at Byron. She was confirmed in the Lutheran faith in the St. James Lutheran churfch by Rev. E.F. Geyer April 5, 1903. She transferred her membership to the Martin Luther Church, where she was a member until her death.
Feb. 16, 1911, she was married to Martin H. Antholz in St. James Lutrheran Church by Rev. Geyer. After their marriage, they moved to the farm two miles east and 1/2 mile south of the Martin Luther Church. Where they lived all of their married lives. Four children were born to this union.
In addition to her husband, who died Dec. 26, 1959, she was preceded in death by four brothers, one of whome died in infancy, and her parents.
She is survived by her four children; Herman of Elk Creek, Albert F. of Cook. Norman of Johnson and Mrs. Irvin (Helen) Gerdes of Auburn; 14 grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
Funeral services were held in the Martin Luther Church Wednesday with Rev. Carl O. Carlson officiating. The organist was Mrs. Eldon Bohling. Pallbearers were Roger Gerdes, Ernest Eggers, Ivan Behrends, Donald Antholz, Clinton Antholz and Clarence Eggers. Interment was in the Martin Luther Cemetery with Casey Funeral Home of Auburn in charge of the arrangements.
