Funeral Services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Methodist church at Fairchild for George "Layfayette" Sackett, 81, who died Saturday (( Mar. 17, 1956 was a Saturday )).
The Rev. F. C. Page officiated at the rites and interment was in the Fairchild cemetery.
The body, in charge of the Georgas Funeral home, reposed at the home until noon on Wednesday, when it was taken to the church for services.
Mr. Sackett was born December 27, 1874, at Van "Wert", O. (( Paper had Van Ere, Ohio )), and moved with his family to Iowa, where he received his education. After working at various trades in Iowa he came to Clark county in 1911. His marriage to Jessie Hartson took place April 26, 1904, and following their marriage they farmed in the town of Seif and Foster before moving to Fairchild, where they have resided since 1940. He had been in ill heath for the past several years.
Mr. Sackett is survived by his wife and five daughters: Mts. Ralph (Nora) Spencer, Augusta; Mrs. Everett (Eva) Bedell, Fairchild; Mrs. Edward (Ethel) Pelzek, Fairchild; Ruth and Pearl at home; and four sons: Charles and Frank of Fairchild; Loyd of Iroquois, S.D.; and Harold of Chicago. Also surviving are 36 grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Frank (Nancy) Wilkins of Sedgewick, Colo ((Nancy Levina Sackett and Francis "Frank" W. Wilkins))
