|Death: ||Jul. 27, 1908|
News of the death of Kirk K. Kerby was received here Monday morning, and was a great shock to his many Lancaster friends. Mr. Kerby was in Lancaster, his old
home, only last Thursday and looked the picture of health. He was a United States guager and on duty at Tyrone. A few days ago he was injured by a horse and while slightly hurt, at the time of the accident, a rupture developed and he went from here to Norton Infirmary, Louisville, where he underwent an operation. This proved unsuccessful and he died Monday morning at 7 o'clock. He was the son of Mrs. Maria Kerby, of this city, and a grandson of the late Wm. H. Kinnaird. He was considered the best guager in this district and a splendid revenue official. The remains were brought to Lancaster Monday night, and funeral services will be held at the home of his grandmother, Mrs. Patsy Kinnaird, where his mother is making her home, today (Tuesday)after which the interments will take place in Lancaster Cemetery.
