30-year Monticello resident; retired railroad engineer.

George A. White, 75, a resident of Tioga Pines Living Center, died at 8:25 a.m. Tuesday at the nursing home. He had been in failing health of two years.
He was born Feb. 22, 1920 in Clay City. His father was George White. He married Wilma F. DeBarr Miller on Aug. 10, 1967 in Monticello. She died March 18, 1991.
He had lived in Monticello for 30 years, coming from Terre Haute.
He was a 1938 Clay City High School graduate and he attended the Bob Jones College at the University of Florida.
He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran.
He was a retired engineer on the Pennsylvania Railroad.
He also retired as vice-president of Miller's Concessions at Indiana Beach.
He was a member of the Monticello Christina Church and the Goodfellows Club, both of Monticello.
Survivors include on son, Glen Hirsch of Carrolton, Texas; one stepdaughter, Barbara Poore of Kona, Hawaii; two stepgrandsons. David J. Cowger and Tony Cowger, both of Indianapolis; and three grandchildren.
One brother is deceased.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home, Monticello, with Rev. Donald Atterburn officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be at IOOF Riverview Cemetery, Monticello.
