Minister Helen E. Dixon, 65, departed this life at Saint Joseph Hospice, Aug 28, 2009. She was a native of Fayette County and a minister at Greater New Hope Christian Center. She was the daughter of the late Iona White Crutcher and Julius "Jew Baby" Crutcher; also preceded in death by her son, Demetrius Lee Dixon and grandson, David E."Little Man" Cowan, Jr.

She was converted at a young age and dedicated her life 36 years ago under the late Bishop Benjamin F. Edwards at Saint Mark Early Church of God in Richmond, KY. Minister Helen accepted her call to the ministry in 1984 under Pastor Louise Edwards of New Jerusalem Church of God.
She was an associate minister at Greater New Hope Christian Center under the pastorate of Apostle James and Gloria Smith.
Her positions in the church were: Sunday school teacher, Titus II Ministry, choir member, Women's Jail Ministry and a member and soloist with the Gospel Spiritualette Singers.

She leaves to celebrate her home going: her husband, Harold "Big Boy" Dixon; four children, Trina (John T.) Shelby, Ray (Pam) Dixon, Harold (Tina) Dixon, and Tameka M. Cowan; 17 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her caregivers, sisters-in-law Betty Drye and Linda Jones; and a host of relatives and friends.

Services 6:30pm Wed, Greater New Hope Christian Center with visitation after 4:30pm.
Resting Place: Cove Haven Cemetery.

Arrangements entrusted to O.L. Hughes & Sons Mortuary, Lexington.
