Rose Van Ottterloo, 89, of Hull died Thursday, September 15, at the Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull.

Funeral servicewas Monday at 11 a.m. at First Christian Reformed Church in Hull with the Rev. Carl Klompien officiating. Interment was at Hope Cemetery in Hull.

Mrs. Van Otterloo was born on December 31, 1915, at Rock Valley, the daughter of Bastiaan and Jennie (Gritters) Nobel.

She was raised at Rock Valley. She graduated from Western Christian High School in Hull and attended college the equivalent of two years. For 21 years, she was a teacher in country schools in the Rock Valley and Hull areas and in the Sioux Center and Hull Christian Schools.

On July 22, 1955, she married Herman J. Van Otterloo in
Hull. They made their home just south of Hull and later moved into Hull. He died June 14, 1992, in Hull, after more than 36 years of marriage.

In May of 2004, she became a resident of Pleasant Acres.

She was a member of First Christian Reformed Church, where she participated in the Helping Hands Society. She also served as the church secretary for 25 years and was the soldiers' secretary during World War II.

She enjoyed crocheting and quilting and gave afghans and quilts to all her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her son and his wife, Harlan and Connie Van Otterloo of Hospers; three stepchildren and their spouses, Melvin and Lucille Van Otterloo, of Hull, Harriet and Corwin Doelieslager of Sioux Center and James and Thelma Van Otterloo of Ripon, California; five grandchildren; 15 stepgrandchildren; one great-grandchild; 23 step-great-grandchildren; and two step-great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a stepson, Burdett Van Otterloo; a step-great-grandchild; two brothers, Henry and John Nobel; and two sisters, Delia and Magdalena Van Otterloo.

Memorials will be directed to the Hull Christian School.
