Ruth was the second child of William Harmon Davis I (1881-1949)and Anna Theresia Strömgren (1875-1937). Her siblings were: William Harmon Davis II (1908-1994), Paul Francis Davis (1912-1944), and John Alfred Davis (1916-2009).

Ruth was born in Portland, Oregon, but by 1912, the family was living in Dallas, Texas, where her brother Paul was born.

In 1916, the family was living in Maryville Tennesse where her brother, John was born.

At some point in her early life the family lived in Harlan County, Kentucky, where her father was working as a carpenter in the coal mines.

The 1920 Census shows her living in Blount County, Tennessee with her mother and siblings.

On 30 or 31 December 1927 she married Homer Pearl Williams. By Homer she had 3 sons and four daughters born during the period 1928-1943, including Elizabeth "Betty" Jean Williams(Baker)(1932-1994). Her other children are still living as of this writing.

She was living in Tennessee when her social security number was issued.

Her husband, Homer, died 2 Jan 1943 in Maryville, Tennessee.

On 3 June 1945 Ruth remarried to Omer Floyd "Pappy" Waldrop. Ruth had no additional children by Omer, however Omer had 6 or 7 children by a former marriage to Jenny Pickens.

Omer died before Ruth on 8 October 1982.

At death, Ruth's residence was in Alcoa, Blount, Tennessee.Also married Omer Floyd Waldrop.
