OGDEN - June Taylor Stratford, 86, died Saturday, May 27, 2006 at McKay-Dee Hospital from complications of heart disease.

She was born June 3, 1919 in Ogden, a daughter of Hyrum Albert and Catherine Gibson Taylor. She was the fifth of eight children. She was raised in Plain City and was a graduate of Weber High School. She attended Weber State College. On August 14, 1940, June married Arvel E. Stratford in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Together they were blessed with seven children, five daughters and two sons. Arvel preceded her in death on September 29, 2001.

June was a member of the Wilson 2nd Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed the scriptures and knew the Savior Jesus Christ very well. She served in all church organizations in the Wilson Wards. She especially loved serving in the Relief Society Presidency and as Junior Sunday School Coordinator. She enjoyed music and sang with a trio for many years.

She worked for the Weber County School System serving as an aide in the kindergarten of Riverdale and Pioneer Elementary Schools. She was a member of the Wilson 55 Camp of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. June enjoyed quilting and made many beautiful quilts which she lovingly gave to her children and grandchildren. She was an avid reader of novels and in her later years enjoyed listening to them on tapes. She enjoyed being with her family and especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are five daughters and two sons, Janice (Keith) Anderson, Taylor; Jean Ann (Gary) Wilson, North Ogden; Brent (Carol) Stratford, Taylor; Linda (Lowell) Wayment, Hemet, CA; Kathy (Marlin) Kirby, Taylor; Val (Jeri) Stratford, Layton; Denise (Brad) Sant, Stafford, VA. Her posterity includes 31 grandchildren and 52 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter and her seven brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the Wilson 2nd Ward Chapel, 2333 South 2700 West in West Haven with Bishop Wade Jacklin conducting. Friends may call on Friday, June 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden and on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Plain City Cemetery.
