BURLINGTON — On March 28, 2007, Maxine Fogleman Harris, 77, of Barham Street, was wrapped in the love of her family as she left this life to join the glory of heaven.


Mrs. Harris was born April 28, 1929 in Alamance County to the late Walter Parker Fogleman and Jewel Murray Fogleman. One of 10 children born to Walt and Jewel, Maxine was predeceased by her oldest brother, Odis Fogleman. She was employed for several years at Kayser-Roth in Burlington.


Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Benjamin "Pete" Harris of the home; two sons, Malcolm "Mike" Harris (wife Maurie) of Greensboro and Joe Harris (wife Sheila) of Burlington; the joy of her life, her three grandchildren, Van Harris (wife Mary), Shelby Harris, and Clint Harris, all of Greensboro; six sisters, Charlene Garner of Burlington, Peggy Stockard of Graham, Mary Jeanette Satterfield (husband Boyd) of Faison, Nancy Lambert of Huntsville, Ala., Sue Sykes (husband Tommy) of N. Augusta, S.C., and Faye Fogleman of Haw River; two brothers, William "Billy" Fogleman (wife Doris) of Haw River and the Rev. Alfred Fogleman (wife Betty) of Shenandoah, Va.


"Aunt Maxine" leaves a great number of nieces, nephews, and their children who each held a special place in her heart. She felt blessed being part of such a large family and loved gathering everyone together for holidays and family reunions. She will be greatly missed.


The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on Saturday at Rich & Thompson Funeral Service in Burlington. The Rev. Alfred Fogleman will give the funeral service immediately following the visitation at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park.


Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4-A Oak Branch Drive, Greensboro, N.C. 27407.
