Wilbur Willox Dies on Trip To California
St. Joseph relatives received word of the death early today of Wilbur Willox, a former resident of the city.
Mr. Willox died suddenly at Salida, Colo., while on the way with his family from their summer home near Brainerd, Minn. to California, where they resided most of the year.
For many years Mr. Willox operated a service station and garage at 11th and Mitchell avenue. He was active in musical circles and was president of the large St. Joseph Stringed Instrument Orchestra, which he sent to two national conventions in addition to bringing the National Plectum Orchestra convention to St. Joseph in 1937.
After World War II Mr. Willox bought lakeside property in Minnesota but lived at 5001 North Rosemead in San Gabriel, Cal.
Survivors include his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Norman Bronner, formerly Verlea Willox, of Temple City, Cal., and a son, Eddie of San Gabriel.
Funeral arrangements have not been made.
